Izu Kawazu Sakura(Kawazu Cherry Blossoms) Festival
This video is a spring sightseeing event “Izu Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival” held in Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture Japan. In the section of about 4km along the Kawazu River that flows through Kawazu Town, about 800 cherry blossom trees line up to the vicinity of the river mouth so as to surround the river, and a beautiful light red landscape spreads around the area.
Kawazu sakura are early-blooming cherry blossoms that bloom pink flowers every year for a month from early February to early March. This tree is considered to be a natural hybrid of Prunus campanulata and Prunus speciosa, and flowers have bloomed since 1966 after planting a seedling that was accidentally discovered by Katsumi Iida in Kawazu Town around 1955.
This tree was named Kawazu Sakura in 1974 because there is a cherry tree in Kawazu Town that blooms early and has pink flowers.
