In commemoration of AIR DO’s launch of the Haneda / Obihiro Airport route on March 27, 2011, the special painting aircraft Bear Do Dream, which painted the AIR DO mascot character on the Boeing 737-500, debuted.
The Bear Do Dream is an aircraft repainted from the former Air Nippon’s JA305K Super Dolphin, and has been repainted in a more colorful design than the JA8196 Bear Do which was operated by AIR DO since April 2009.
Bird strike during take-off climb at Sendai Airport
The “Bear Do Dream” took off from Sendai Airport, but a bird strike occurred while taking off while climbing.
The airliner continued to fly to its destination as it was not a major accident and had little impact on the aircraft.
The Bear Do Dream was retired from AIR DO in December 2014, and after being repainted again, debuted as the Super Dolphin of ANA Wings, an ANA Group airline.
Although the aircraft had been operating for as long as 25 years since it entered service in July 1995, the Boeing 737-500 of the JA305K, JA306K, and JA307K will be retired in the first half of 2020.
