This is a video of the Ishinomaki River Opening Festival Fireworks Display held in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture Japan on August 1, 2017. The Ishinomaki River Opening Festival praises the great achievement of Mr. Sonbei Kawamura, who opened a port in Ishinomaki by excavating the Kitakami River at the behest of Date Masamune during the Edo period.
In addition, it is a festival held to memorialize those who died in marine accidents and water accidents.
Damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, the location has been relocated from the former Kitakami River, which was the venue for the fireworks display, to the area around the Ishinomori Manga Museum, and the event is being reduced.
