Shinjuku Gyoen is a garden under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment that spans Shinjuku-ku and Shibuya-ku, Tokyo Japan. Originally it was the place where the Shinano Takato Naito family house was located in the Edo period.
In the Meiji era, the Ministry of Finance purchased the residential land of the Naito family and the surrounding 178,000 tsubo and opened the Naito Shinjuku Test Center. It has come to be used as an agricultural research institute and educational institution.
It opened as Shinjuku Botanical Garden, a royal estate and farm in 1902, but became public after World War II and became a national park.
In recent years, the Cherry Blossom Viewing Party hosted by the Prime Minister and the Chrysanthemum Viewing Party are held in early November.「There are 65 kinds of 1000 cherry trees in a 58 hectare site that combines a variety of gardens, such as Japanese garden, British landscape garden and “French garden and more.
